Summer tees

Summer tees

It’s been only 2 years, I guess, that loose tees are the basic of Summer Spring collections. Earlier on, tops were more structured with, I mean shirts rather than tees, or jackets rather than sweaters. And it shifted, at least in French retail shops to what I used to call the LA’s style: loose shapes, thin cotton jersey fabrics, so thin that it almost looks like silk or some kind of chiffon. I may have missed a major revolution in the fabric design department, as not long ago this kind of cotton used to age very bad loosing proper shape after 1 or 2 machine washing. Today, thin cotton fabric doesn’t mean anymore poor quality as it used to. What I didn’t miss however was Halle Berry giving a try to this style. It’s actually how I started to pay attention and even seek those tees on the shelves. I thought she looked really really casual chic cool, 3 words just a few can gather in a same sentence when talking about their style.

Jigsaw, London SS 2011 collection references some nice long, shortsleeved tees and tanks in different shades: baby pink, brown, blue, grey blue but also black, brown, marin blue. I bought a bunch of them 1 month ago to kick off my first Londoner’s summer. I was looking one nice white and blue sailor style tee, and I left the boutique with 5 of them (pictured in the slideshow). I like to pair them with structured outfit: army jacket and skinny jeans or straight short. I avoid pleated pants and shorts,or worse bouffant skirts as volume on top + volume at the bottom = looking fat. I pay attention as well to the colors. As the shape is a loose fit, the color should not be shy: avoid shiné colors. Cotton is fine as a fabric as well as viscose. I don’t really like how modal or tencel look sheep. Last but not least. Put the money on it. It’s as expensive as a regular thicker fabric tee. If you buy it sheep, you’ll have a poor quality that wear and tear quickly.

You may find nice pieces as well at Shop BopRevolve Clothing.

Michael Jackson was he a fashion maker?

He absolutely was.

In just one month it’ll be one whole year that Michael Jackson  and his genius have passed away. I listen to his music repeatedly. I even get his video clip on my iPod. Once more he showed me that he was ahead of even fashion. No kidding. I wouldn’t say that he had fashion sense, but he certainly got style vision. He said himself that he wasn’t much interested in fashion, but on stage.

The way you make me feel, Michael Jackson
