I got those at Net a Porter. 4 in heels and my feet feel as comfortable as if they slipped in 3 in’s. wooooohooooo!
For who wonder, they are made of watersnake skin. The brand is Pierre Hardy
Once upon a while I would have applauded Donatella Versace. She said to the French Vogue of November that with heels (and with jewelry), it’s all or none. But wearing painfully high heels every day doesn’t just fit with the regular working girl I am. Well … I walk! I catch the train, I run after the bus, I speed up in the underground stairs. As I’m growing older (and wiser), I am starting to consider grown up shoes. You know black closed toe escarpins … things that look more ‘dame’, but not too classic. I spotted those Zanotti pumps back in July at the end of the summer sales. The black suede looks timeless, but the low collar that uncover the pleats of the toes’ birth looks sexy. The heels are reasonably high (3”5), but not too low so that my figure still look slender. I finally purchased them when I was in Paris 1 month ago.
Ok ok! I hate to say so but I may have been influenced by Kate Middleton’s classic style.
like the newest additions of my shoe closet.
One is Alexandre Birman‘s python ballerinas I’ve been craving for ever since I spotted them on Net a Porter like 3 months ago. They were available in blue and neutral as well, but the red ones are my favorite. So I was used to check out they were still available once in a while. Red. Still there ok! and size 9? … still available nice! Displaying of the bigger picture and then zooming in on them. Checking the shape of them, the red color on different screens, putting them in my basket, having a last thought about it and thinking: £300 for a pair of ballerinas. No way. Et hop in the wish list. Ho!, I did that yet last time! Double checking at the beginning of the summer sale. Not on sale. Boohooo. After 1st further reduction. Still not on sale. And the blue ones? the neutrals? Not on sale. Anyway I want the red ones. And 2 weeks ago, I checked my wish list: on sale! couldn’t believe it. 30% reduced. Size 9 still available. It was a sign. In my basket the sweeties. I wouldn’t pay the delivery just for one stuff. No no no. Those pants are nice £70. Hop. And this ACB necklace looks good actually £36. Not a big deeeaal. Hop. This bracelet looks lovely. The day after, apart size 5.5, the ballerinas were all sold out were they red, neutral, blue, and mine were at home collected from London Premier by my boyfriend.
The other pair is Giuseppe Zanotti peep toe suede booties. – 50% on sale. I spotted them at the Rue Saint Honore’s Zanotti store when I was in Paris back in May. I tried them on, told the store director how wonderfully good looking they were and left high chinned, empty handed. Then, I spotted them on the Vogue best dress list (I guess) at Karolina Kurokova’s feet! The b…. (Sorry Karolina if you ever read me one day. I don’t think you are. but it’s just the way I felt).
And here they are sitting up to my bedroom windowsill, because they’re worth it! Perfect with the nude dress I’ll put on at the 3rd princess wedding of the summer as my little cousin like to call her forthcoming nuptials.
They are designed to make you feel like you’re running barefoot and help strengthening your core muscles.
I’m ashamed to voice that I barely get time to train. From a daily work out 2 years ago while I was enjoying myself in Stanford, I stepped down to twice a week yoga sessions (I try), a run in Hyde Park at week end (love it), and abs, back and arms work out before the yoga session to strengthen my upper body, even though it’s only for 15 minutes. I haven’t resumed a gym subscription since I moved in to London. It would be like trashing my money.
Getting back to those, I haven’t shoed them on yet in Hyde Park. Actually, I plan to carry on using my air cushioned Nike to run outdoors, and use the Bikila at the gym (the subscription I will resume at the Autumn, when the weather will get to ugly to run outdoors). I had suffered from bilateral periostitis in my tibias. It’s the membrane around your bones which gets inflammatory because of the impacts and vibrations that run along your legs, when you do any work out with impacts. It creates small air bubbles in this layers that causes pain when you run or even walk in my case. I got rid of it with custom made insoles and one pair of good sneakers a year to keep having sufficient cushion.
There are some ever-green trends that keep going back every once in a while. Is fashion playing us silly?
Those darlings are my new selfish gift to myself. I’ve been searching the perfect boots for a while. The unique pair of them that combines elegance and comfort and suit all my dresses and pants… Ok ok! those don’t really. They are ok with slim jeans and leggings. But, honestly, which ones do?
One of the perks of having 2 hours commuting everyday (it has to be at least one) is I have resumed on reading. In Paris, my commuting time was only 20 minutes twice a day most of them walking. I was more comfortable listening to podcasts on my iPhone than bumping hard my forehead in a post while watching toward my feet …
