Summer Spring 2012 trends

Can’t believe Spring collections are upon us. I just bought the Elle, and all advertisings smell like warmer temperatures. I’m still layering my cashmeres to keep warm, but it feels good to look ahead!

This dress

got me obsessed for half a year ever since Karlie Kloss walked the Lanvin SS 2011 RTW show.

I eventually saw it at Harrod’s, London 2 weeks ago…. It’s not really what I expected.

Well! The dress still looks gorgeous overall. Even hung on the hanger, the  firemen red silk of the skirt looks like it flies around depending upon how light sparkles on it. BUT the fabric of the top looks like .. neopren. You know this thick fabric used for diving suits.  I want to think that Elbaz chose it on purpose to smooth the line of the back and keep any ungracious skin bump under tight guard while offering good support without a bra. Though, at close sight, it looks terrible.

That’s not all. Underneath the belt the waistline seam is ruffled. And in real life, you walk, you talk, you breathe, your belt move around with you and uncover the ruffle detail. It’s like the dress design is not complete.

Lanvin Homme Spring Summer 2010 ad

Lanvin hommes SS2010 advertisingIs that scary? It’s not really what I’d expect from Lanvin as a visual …

But, it’s very Inès Van Lamwsweered and Vinodh Matadin.

Here, the photographers turned models and shoot themselves. Sober black covered Matadin has almost been eaten by glamazon red Van Lamsweered. The pic is fierce. It  stops me from going farther. What do they want to say? Is this Lanvin’s willing? Is this Lanvin’s message? Or is this the photographer couples word?

Lanvin runway’s cleopatra style

This Lanvin’s runway Cleopatra style with black wig and bold smoky eyes’ style is a look I’d like to flaunt.

Unfortunately, I’d look weird. My frizzy hair can’t stand a fringe. From the day I cut a fringe down, I’ll be my iron straightener’s if I don’t want to look like an alpaca.

Madeleine Vionnet, a fashion purist
“What I did is not fashion. It was designed to last forever” said the woman known as the architect of dressmakers. I attended Madeleine Vionnet, puriste de la mode, exhibit last week at The Musée des Arts Décoratifs (107 rue de Rivoli, Paris, Mo Palais Royal). Thrice I was in Paris in the last months, twice I couldn’t attend the exhibit. You imagine how I was thrilled to eventually do it last week. The exhibit lasts until end of January 2010 and showcases more than 130 (fairy) dresses that Vionnet fabricated. I was stunned to figure out how modern the dresses are. They date back to the beginning of the century and they look like contemporary dresses. If you pay a visit, do not hesitate to take the guided tour to understand the era’s context and get full explanation about Madeleine Vionnet’s talent.

My ultimate wish list

My ultimate wish list

Going through work day to night out with elegance.

This is my ultimate wish list.

I go out the shower. I dry my hair. I moisturize my body with my favorite creamy lotion.

I catch up my Elle Mac Pherson Intimate underwear and choose right away my shoes. I’m out tonight. I need something comfy. This is going to be my black suede Camilla Skovgaard boots.

Skin-like eye shadow and a line of black eye liner on my upper lids. Lip colored lipstick, cloud of orange blush on my cheeks.

I slip on my black Miu Miu wool piqué dress, slide a Burberry brass wire necklace around my neck. I got just enough time to throw all my stuffs from my black bag to my brand new Chloe Paraty brick red python shoulder bag (I love it). I put on my Marni studded bone ring, and the Isharya 18 Kt gold plated floral filigree cuff I borrowed to my BFF Vero … well …. 2 months ago … (Thanks honey. you’re so sweet) while I admire myself in the mirror. Damn, I forgot the mascara. 1 minute application of a heavy black mascara. Last glimpe. Just Perfect. I’m out.On my way to the metro, I put Oliver People oversized Chelsea sunglasses on my nose.

Waow, what a day. I’m late. the dinner is in 20 minutes. I got just 5 minutes to change my outfit. Impossible. I just change the bag over a Judith Leiber crytsal embellished fold over clutch. Aaaah! Here you are burnt orange crocodile pattern Skovgaard sandals. I put them on. No, no. I can’t. My feet are crying. It is going to be flat golden leather jewel embellished ¬†ballerinas. So comfy. So classy. I switch the wire necklace against Kenneth Jay Lane diamanté strand necklace. My iPhone rings while I’m putting on my Nina Peters studded black leather gloves. “Hi Honey, Sorry I’m gonna be 10 minutes late. Crazy day. I’ll tell you. I catch up my Rochas wool and silk double breasted jacket and I’m on my way to the restaurant. See ya”

Oh nooo! 7 am. I switch off the waking up alarm. What a sweet dream. Thanks net-a-porter.com.
