The details were key at Men’s Fall Winter 2012 collections

You won’t hear me saying in a couple of years from now how fab Men’s Fall Winter 2012 was.

I tried hard to get inspired, but those bifabric jackets (leather sleeves and woolen torso), cropped pants or oversized coats have not blown me away. Honestly, if my boyfriend puts that on, I’d walk 10′ behind under the radar.  Lucky me, I’m appointed official fashion stylist of the house and those will never hang up in our closet. Although I’m hopeless that he’ll never wear those shirt like jackets sigh.

I was expecting more color block and more prints (I mean wearable nice prints). Sometimes an unsurprising collection is better than a disappointing one, don’t you think?

After those meaningful comments, let’s check the few ones I loved

You, guys, go green next summer?

There’s something with this greenish trend men’s runways have sorted out.

This is not the most flattering color. But this is certainly the newest shade. Is it a yerk? Or is it a no?

Kudos to Hermes Men’s RTW Spring 2011 collection

Hermès managed to deliver an immediate to wear RTW collection. Most of the collections is easy enough to get picked up and worn right after the runway.

Let’s point out the cardigans,

Madeleine Vionnet, a fashion purist
“What I did is not fashion. It was designed to last forever” said the woman known as the architect of dressmakers. I attended Madeleine Vionnet, puriste de la mode, exhibit last week at The Musée des Arts Décoratifs (107 rue de Rivoli, Paris, Mo Palais Royal). Thrice I was in Paris in the last months, twice I couldn’t attend the exhibit. You imagine how I was thrilled to eventually do it last week. The exhibit lasts until end of January 2010 and showcases more than 130 (fairy) dresses that Vionnet fabricated. I was stunned to figure out how modern the dresses are. They date back to the beginning of the century and they look like contemporary dresses. If you pay a visit, do not hesitate to take the guided tour to understand the era’s context and get full explanation about Madeleine Vionnet’s talent.
