My men’s RTW Spring Summer 2012 favs

This Men’s collection was not my favorite of all. From the Givenchy’s skirts (Rick Owens’ was no surprise), to Sacai girly espadrilles to Comme des Garcons’s fushia suit, I don’t think that most trends fitted everyday outfit, which should qualify a Ready To Wear collection in my view.

But (because there’s always a but, and when one searches, one finds …)

Yesterday, I bought nothing

Yesterday and day before were buy nothing days (BND). This is the reason why I decided it would be that day that I wouldn’t buy those:

outfit_w635pxThe dress is Preen Line’s. Shoes are Brian Atwood Lola Purple suede leather pumps. The ring is De Beers’ Talisman Organic ring, and the Necklace is Givenchy’s. Burberry oversized white python bag and Cutler and Gross sunglasses complete the ensemble. As I was saying yesterday, I am able to match only two colors + white and silver I don’t really consider colors. The total is around

Ange ou Demon Le Secret by Givenchy

Ange ou Demon Le Secret TV ad

The song in this TV ad used to haunt me for days once I heard it. ‘Je suis Ange ou Demon, mais personne ne le sait. Je suis Ange ou Demon et c’est la mon secret’ (I am an Angel or a Devil, but nobody knows it, I am an Angel or a Devil, and that is my secret)

Madeleine Vionnet, a fashion purist
“What I did is not fashion. It was designed to last forever” said the woman known as the architect of dressmakers. I attended Madeleine Vionnet, puriste de la mode, exhibit last week at The Musée des Arts Décoratifs (107 rue de Rivoli, Paris, Mo Palais Royal). Thrice I was in Paris in the last months, twice I couldn’t attend the exhibit. You imagine how I was thrilled to eventually do it last week. The exhibit lasts until end of January 2010 and showcases more than 130 (fairy) dresses that Vionnet fabricated. I was stunned to figure out how modern the dresses are. They date back to the beginning of the century and they look like contemporary dresses. If you pay a visit, do not hesitate to take the guided tour to understand the era’s context and get full explanation about Madeleine Vionnet’s talent.
