I’ve been looking up some inspiration for a custom made dramatic dress that I want my mom to design for me. I wanted something that looked effortless but still stood out and I couldn’t find my take Paris, NY, Milan & London runways. It’s how I came to browse Sydney’s fashion week.
It’s dramatically different from the fashion royals: vivid hues are the rules rather than the exception and chiffons flying around are usual in daywear as well. Oddly, I couldn’t find any fall winter slideshows. I wonder whether there’s never been ‘colder’ fashion weeks over there? Do you know?
Icing on the cake Vogue.com.au offers a trip to the Australian fashion week of September. The competition is open until April 11th. Just submit a couple of lines about your prefered Australian designer …
Don’t overdo prints. C’mon, we wouldn’t have liked it 6 months ago. Don’t get your boy ashamed when he gets dropped at shool (your little sister, the niece of your best friend, the daughter of your lover … it works with any kid, believe me).
I don’t know how folks cope out of fashion month. I’m just sat behind my computer, and I feel saturated with colors, style, design, silhouettes and fabrics. Here’s the last stop of the big 4. If you have any idea though how to get image from the other smaller fashion capitals, please let me know in the comments.
Those pastel colors that will fill out London streets in a couple of months (don’t like it), the romantic broderie anglaise Vuitton introduced on a Carrousel at SS 2012 runway, and the Marrant-alike lace shirts were all hanged out on the racks when I stepped in Zara, Knightsbridge yesterday. With all its mass market copies and its giant retail store, Zara is even better than Vogue to get you served with all trends of the next season at one glance.
Summer will definitely look delicate and girly. All that I’d have run away from when I was a teen.
I hate having holes in my shoes. I’ll try to get them fixed by a cobbler or I bin them away. Those sneakers are the exception though. I purchased them back in 2006 after a break up. €150! A little fortune for sneakers. They walked me in the rain, in the snow. They have been on the road, in the countryside. They have lived in Paris, in Stanford, in London. They have visited Roma, India, Switzerland. They’ve watched me grow up from junior officer to associate director. 3 years ago, I offered them a little brother.
Can’t believe Milan is over and Paris is already on us. Time flies!
London Fashion week was quite fabulous. The kick off was hard. I actually enjoyed the last days better.
