got me obsessed for half a year ever since Karlie Kloss walked the Lanvin SS 2011 RTW show.
I eventually saw it at Harrod’s, London 2 weeks ago…. It’s not really what I expected.
Well! The dress still looks gorgeous overall. Even hung on the hanger, the firemen red silk of the skirt looks like it flies around depending upon how light sparkles on it. BUT the fabric of the top looks like .. neopren. You know this thick fabric used for diving suits. I want to think that Elbaz chose it on purpose to smooth the line of the back and keep any ungracious skin bump under tight guard while offering good support without a bra. Though, at close sight, it looks terrible.
That’s not all. Underneath the belt the waistline seam is ruffled. And in real life, you walk, you talk, you breathe, your belt move around with you and uncover the ruffle detail. It’s like the dress design is not complete.
Vera Wang refers to her daughters as her test-marketers as she is relaunching her lavender label.
The girls are 18 and 21 years old and are said to make sure that Wang knows what works and what doesn’t at least for her. You bet that the lavender collection to be displayed exclusively at Neiman Marcus and www.neimanmarcus.com takes a lot out of Wang’s daughter fashion tastes?
In my family, we like beautiful goods and among those we adore clothes. My maternal grandmother was known to be elegant as a lady and so is my mom. They are both skilled seamstress. I always had custom made clothes to go to school. And I don’t remember having had a not handmade dress for special events like weddings when I was a a kid. My dad, my brother and I, we used to laugh at my mom as she used to spend one hour long to pamper herself and get dressed up just to go to work every morning. Prepping for a party was a 3-hour affair. I would sit in her bedroom’s armchair just to watch her doing her routine. As I grew bigger she got used to query my opinion. It started with “If I listen to you, I’d be dressing up with as many colors as a parrots shows”. Then came “You’re doing better in terms of style”. Eventually, today it’s “Gaelle, Hun, I need your help. What do you think of this and that for your sister’s wedding?” Calling me from the Caribbean to my mobile wherever I’m in the world to describe a desirable soon to be new dress in her closet. I guess I feel proud of that: that she queries my opinion, as for me she’s the most stylish.
Coming back to Wang, I guess it’s a thrill for her to come to such height of style and recognition and to have her girls as primary customers and support.
Both dresses before look nice to me. I am searching the dress I’m gonna don at my little cousin’s wedding (she’s 8-year my junior .. I can’t believe that she’s getting married), and the nude one with large black belt looks gorgeous. Though, I made up my mind on spending $300 on the dress, maybe $300 to 400 on the shoes. I know I can do it, as summer sale falls in the meanwhile. The second orange pink golden dress would be nice as day dress, but this one should come out of my closet. The wedding is in Guyana during the peak season … you bet that the flight ticket is expensive enough for me to save on the dress stuffs.
I guess that Heidi Klum grammy’s dress was the only one I really likes at the Grammy this year. True I like it all about Klum. Beside staying fit after 4 kids, and having an accomplished career still on the way, she also looks so relaxed and easy going.
Once upon a time it was a gawky teen, the daughter of iconic item late French singer Serge Gainsbourg and British singer/ actress/ model Jane Birkin, who turned to a beautiful women, actress/ singer/ model.
I guess Charlotte Gainsbourg has spent her entire life getting watched by French mass. Although I’m a bit younger than she’s, I have memories of her looking like even more uncomfortable in her skin than I did felt in mine during our teenage years. 10 years ago, I guess around the time she first became a mom to son Ben, she changed from mop to butterfly.
She’s the cover girl of the 30-year anniversary issue of Madame Figaro (october 2010), a French magazine midway between Elle (but a bit more brainy) and Newsweek (much more fashion than it). Funnily enough, she leaks out that she was indeed a very shy teen. Having became a mom has freed her soul and how she perceive her own image. She’s not that into fashion in real life (she credits her sister Lou Doillon for being the fashion guru of her siblings), but it’s an important part of her professional self. It’s why she sought Balanciaga’s Nicolas Gesquieres help. She likes how he makes it effortless for her to dress up and feels easy about her public image as an artist. She took 10 years to free herself from her father’s shadow, to get comfortable with making music on her own.
I like her style today. Be it blue jeans, white tee and santiags with her wild long hair floating in the air while singing on stage at Coachella, or else, dolled up in a red carpet Balanciaga sexy dress. Most of all, I love her slender legs. They seem endless. Though, I’m not sure she’s that tall.
This pic above is my favorite. It’s the pic she looks her most relaxed. Photoshoot doesn’t seem to be her routine. She looks straight in the camera. Though this one looks nice. The little black dress is sleek and flatters her figure and slender legs.
is this gorgeous Armani Privé crystal embellished black dress.
Lee Jean Youn introduced his Fall Winter 2010 Haute Couture collection last week one block to Georges Pompidou Center in central Paris. It’s the second time he graces the French capital with his design, his first passage having been his SS2010 collection earlier this year.
Jean Youn delivered on a flowery stage a subtle & romantic design full of bows and flowers, veils and trails in organza, silk and cashmere fabrics. The key color was orange beside white and black. The whole collection was rather short lengthened, sexy, fitting and body flattering.
I just bought this hat at Doria Salambo at Bastille in Paris.
