Charlotte Gainsbourg covers Madame Figaro 30-year special issue

Once upon a time it was a gawky teen, the daughter of iconic item late French singer Serge Gainsbourg and British singer/ actress/ model Jane Birkin, who turned to a beautiful women, actress/ singer/ model.

I guess Charlotte Gainsbourg has spent her entire life getting watched by French mass. Although I’m a bit younger than she’s, I have memories of her looking like even more uncomfortable in her skin than I did felt in mine during our teenage years. 10 years ago, I guess around the time she first became a mom to son Ben, she changed from mop to butterfly.

She’s the cover girl of the 30-year anniversary issue of Madame Figaro (october 2010), a French magazine midway between Elle (but a bit more brainy) and Newsweek (much more fashion than it). Funnily enough, she leaks out that she was indeed a very shy teen. Having became a mom has freed her soul and how she perceive her own image. She’s not that into fashion in real life (she credits her sister Lou Doillon for being the fashion guru of her siblings), but it’s an important part of her professional self. It’s why she sought Balanciaga’s Nicolas Gesquieres help. She likes how he makes it effortless for her to dress up and feels easy about her public image as an artist. She took 10 years to free herself from her father’s shadow, to get comfortable with making music on her own.

I like her style today. Be it blue jeans, white tee and santiags with her wild long hair floating in the air while singing on stage at Coachella, or else, dolled up in a red carpet Balanciaga sexy dress. Most of all, I love her slender legs. They seem endless. Though, I’m not sure she’s that tall.

This pic above is my favorite. It’s the pic she looks her most relaxed. Photoshoot doesn’t seem to be her routine. She looks straight in the camera. Though this one looks nice. The little black dress is sleek and flatters her figure and slender legs.

The SS 2010 Balanciaga boots

I’m in love with those boots’ collection ever since Balenciaga introduced them at SS RTW 2010 runway.

I can’t afford them unfortunately. And even if I could, I’ve not the appropriate runway … hem  … job to show them off. White collar …  ”we work here … no place for fashion … we do not throw our money into expensive useless shoes”.

Yeah, I agree it’s the weapon of people that do not want to understand fashion. It’s stupid. But that’s my life…

Anyway. November I’m off to Rome to buy some serious shoes and boots. Not those. But Rome get such gorgeous shoes at a ridiculously low price compared to Paris.
