For its 100th anniversary, the magazine WWD auctions several dream items, kindly offered by renowed fashion designers themselves. The auction started out nov 2nd and finished on 18th.

I guess this Chanel Couture dress is my favorite. The champagne body & silver flowers mixmatch is amazing on Parker's skin tone. Though her eye make up is a bit too smoky. Yes, she needed a bold eye make up, but something went wrong here.

Armani Hotel at Burj Dubai

Today was the inauguration of Burj Dubai, the tallest tower in the world with a half mile height. 160 floors, 20 minutes elevator from ground floor to top, $1.5 bn cost and 4 years to completion, the skyscraper gathers superlatives. Located at the heart of downtown Dubai, it's so massive that it can be seen from 50 miles away (85 km). The construction began in 2004, when Dubai economy was florishing with a 9.7% growth. The forecast are 2.4% for 2010 and is expected to be 0.2% in 2009.

"What I did is not fashion. It was designed to last forever" said the woman known as the architect of dressmakers. I attended Madeleine Vionnet, puriste de la mode, exhibit last week at The Musée des Arts Décoratifs (107 rue de Rivoli, Paris, Mo Palais Royal). Thrice I was in Paris in the last months, twice I couldn't attend the exhibit. You imagine how I was thrilled to eventually do it last week. The exhibit lasts until end of January 2010 and showcases more than 130 (fairy) dresses that Vionnet fabricated. I was stunned to figure out how modern the dresses are. They date back to the beginning of the century and they look like contemporary dresses. If you pay a visit, do not hesitate to take the guided tour to understand the era's context and get full explanation about Madeleine Vionnet's talent.
