Washington D.C. was still sleeping when the Nobel Prize committee released the news. Are you kidding? The Nobel Peace Prize 2009 awarded to Barack Obama for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between people”! Seriously? Is that a joke? And Michelle Obama has incredible sense of fashion as well? What does the committee think about Nicolas Sarkozy, Angela Merkel or Grodon Brown to name a few? Yes, they pamper bilateral relationships with countries they trade with. It’s part of the job. Ooooh. Got it! The committee wanted to draw attention one more time on Georges W. Bush’s international failures! Or they wanted to punish another candidate as Alfred Nobel did for mathematics since his wife allegedly slept with a mathematician.

Barack Obama has not yet achieved anything. Yes, he has taken several initiatives. He has appealed to reduce nuclear arsenals, other than US’s. He has vowed to shut Guantanamo, without truly thinking about how to (fix real criminals issues for example). He has worked hard to withdraw US troops from Iran, and had filled Afghanistan with those. He has tried to open the dialogue with Iran, without ever getting success in meeting Ahmadinejad. Is this enough to award one of the greatest honors ever to someone full of intangible hope but still empty of tangible achievements? I don’t think so.

Award the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama is premature. It’s inappropriate for a president in office since he’ll might have to take difficult decisions as launching wars.

Now, Iran, Korea, Russia and all the others can sleep nightmare-free. B.O. won’t launch any massive nuclear attack, since he has just been appointed the model of pacifism.
