I can’t believe it. Nespresso is opening a store at Bloomingdales, San Francisco. Last year, I was living for 9 months at Palo Alto, 30 minutes driving from San Francisco. And it wasn’t there. I used to order my pods on the website. I felt so frustrated to not be able to enjoy the Nespresso experience at a Nespresso store.

My Nespresso machine was the first appliance I bought. Impossible to drink an american coffee jus de chaussette (socks’ juice) as French call it. I went to William Sonoma that is in front of Bloomingdales across Union Square. I was hesitant between a Cube and a Delonghi Latissima. The point was I got a Delonghi espresso machine 5 years ago. And espresso was clearly better with a Krups or Magimix machine. I don’t know why. I wanted to know if there was the same difference between the Cube and the Latissima. In the US, the Cube machines are not identified as a Krups or a Magimix ones. On the engine, you read only Nespresso Cube. Actually, red and black Cubes are Magimix’s. Titanium, steel and black cubes are Krups’.
I asked the seller “Do you know if there’s a difference between this Krups and this Delonghi”
“I’m sorry, I’m not a Nespresso seller. I don’t know”
I asked “Is it possible to make a coffee? One with this Krups, the other with this Delonghi. For me to taste them and compare”
“It’s not a Krups Ma’am. It’s a Nespresso”.
“Yes, it’s what I’m saying. It’s a Nespresso from Krups”.
“No Ma’am, this machine is a Nespresso, not a Krups”.
I replied “Do you drink espresso? Nope. You just told me you don’t know Nespresso. How can you know? This is a Krups”
The guy dared to tell me “If you want a coffee Ma’am, there’s plenty of bars outside”.
I was so furious. I ended up buying a Nespresso Concept machine on eBay. I am so glad that Nespresso is now just across Union Square.
Here are the pics of the corner. Looks like great.
