I came thru the making of of Kate Moss and Gaspard Ulliel advertising for Longchamp back in 2008 at Cafe de Flore, Paris.
I missed this campaign as I were living in the US that year. The campaign renders the whole Paris cliché picture with the intimate and vintage interior of Café de Flore. Look at this cup of tea. Today, you find that out only at your grandmother countryside home. Yet, it’s not the campaign itself that’s stunning. It’s more the characters.
I’m not that into Longchamp. Besides the leather looking poor (too sleek), it doesn’t age well at all. How many Longchamp bags I’ve seen in metro with the edges peeled of as if they were of plastic. That’s a shame for a label that’s raised its price sharp up over the past years.
Together Ulliel and Moss embody perfectly that sexy mature female/ toyboy couple picture.
Ulliel specifically draws attention.
This kind of look makes a woman feel empowered.
Specifically, Ulliel draws my attention more than the bags or Moss do. Merely because I look for his face (last pics) or his look (he doesn’t look straight ahead). I may guess that he’s less comfortable to stare at the camera that runway beast Moss. Yet that created something truely attractive. And I can’t get enough to get his look attracted to me. You see what I mean?
It’s funny how Ulliel has changed in just two years. Below is a pic of him at Cannes , last week. Look how his face has changed and matured. He’s no longer this kid man I see in Longchamp campaign.
