The French-born designer Sophie Theallet is CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund award 09 holder. She wins more than the $200 000 included in the prize. Honestly, I guess one single fashion show costs more than that. First she has one year of marketing, designing and producing mentoring from the industry professionals. Second, a broader audience of opportunists like myself.

Have I ever talked about her before? Yes once! Ah ah ah. Since yesterday night, I am in my archives searching for Sophie Theallet material. Actually, I noticed her SS10 collection for 2 reasons. Her name sounds so French amid the other NYC designers. And whatever the season her collections are rainbow-like. I like coloring my all dark winter style or all white summer fur with colorful pieces. Her creativity is more into the colors and the mix of fabrics and patterns she uses than in the lines, which are fairly simple and easy-going. It’s different from others’ collection. It’s refreshing. I would wear her clothes during the day with cute shoes and big bags or at casual evening events mix-matched with bold jewelry and accessories. Theallet defines her style as bohemian chic. It is a willing of her to feature only ethnic models in her collections. It’s actually consistent with her design. Rainbow like clothes for rainbow like runway. And it’s marketing-wise. Who has said she needs marketing pieces of advice from industry experts?

Here are the Spring Summer RTW 2010 pieces I prefer and why

I like the sun yellow color. The dress is quite simple, but the pattern difference between the body and the hem is interesting.

I like this one for the same reason: the orange bright color. Do you find easily this kind of color? If you do, gimme some tips, because I have hard time for finding warm and colorful pieces like those.

I like the way the chiffon flies around her. I’d fell like a princess in this.

This is apparently a very simple one and this is my second favorite. No hurry. Wait for the first. Ok, I just said I like colors and blah blah blah. But this dress is timeless. I remember my mom having something like that on pics I wasn’t born yet. This dress would make room for the rest of my day or evening outfits. It’d lift my bag, my shoes, my jewelry. It’s simple and elegant. It fits every body. I mean … slim and less slim.

I love the fact that it’s straight so I can wear it like a top with a skinny pair of jeans or straight pants, or like a dress with gladiator sandals or summer boots.

My favorite is the pink one. Pink fits better my complexion.

Funny. I like the big flower-hawaiian-tahitian-whatever-it-is design. The unique big pink flower matching the pink collar revers lifts up this blouse.

This is my favorite. The blue/ dark is gorgeous even on the dark tone skin of the model (blue is not an easy color for dark tone skin). The top is casual, while the bottom is princess. I like it. When I wear this kind of dress, with the skirt floating behind, I have the feeling I let my presence behind. I sound megalomaniac? Yes, my name is Madonna. Or Bono. Or Karl. So what?

Michelle Obama’s pick last summer. I like it. It’s simple and elegant. Besides I think this line fits Michelle Obama’s.
