I discovered Camilla Skovgaard label while searching my shoes for my sister’s wedding. Yeah, I know, it’s not the first time I’m talking about that, but it was a large part of my Spring 2009. She’s my big sis I love. We live in different continents, and I’m lucky if I see her 10 days/ year. You guess how it was a very special event for us. I started looking my ‘wedding outfits’ 6 months before the due date. I wanted something unique. No way my shoes or my clutch could look like my cousins’. I made up my mind on a short dress and I knew my mom would find that inappropriate. I needed original, sophisticated and remarkable shoes to make her forget those legs out. But, even if San Francisco may be very honorable in terms of fashion, I found out only ‘classic’ pieces. They don’t go into special things as Paris and NY do. Or if they do, it’s with well established brands like Louboutin, Balenciaga, Balmain, Zanotti and like. For example, I stopped on those black gladiator Balenciagas and those jewelled Balmains Jennifer Connelly donned at ‘He’s just not that into you’ premiere. But they were beyond my price bracket.

I liked those 4” heel Jean Michel Cazabat sandals as well. Though the glitter and cork finish looked great, I judged that they were too expensive for such a poor material. Plus, they didn’t dress up my feet enough to balance my undressed legs.

Then I tried desperately to get Rodolphe Menudier booklet. I got snubbed. After days of research on the Internet, I stumbled into Camilla Skovgaard green Saddle python sandals. Once I saw them, I have known they were the ones. The booty-style would dress up my feet enough. The python was noble enough and the green color unusual enough. Between us, I don’t like green usually.

I started my python hunt in the retailer jungle. The cheaper price was on Shop Bop. Unfortunately, it refused to deliver in California or outside the US because of the python material. Did you know that California forbids the selling of python-made goods? AsSkovgaard office is London headquartered, I decided to wait and get contact whit them when back in Europe. Cecilia, a sweetheart of the headquarter, assisted me in finding a retailer in Italy which got my size. When I reached Pietro at Tearose in Italy, my size had just gone. I was desperate. Finally, one friend in NYC accepted to receive the package and send it to Europe. But when I came to order at ShopBop website, my size had gone once more. I called ShopBop, crying, begging them to delete the order of the last do…. b.. who had ordered my shoes, yes my shoes. A miracle. They didn’t need to cancel anything. They have some left, my size, at 70%. Summer saale. I’ve never been happier to pay for shoes + delivery fees. I eventually received the precious 1 month later after my NYC friend finally dispatch them to France and another friend bring them to South America where I moved for my sister’s wedding. Mom liked them. My cousins, my sister, my mom’s friends were in awe. Even my uncles noticed them. None of them talked about my dress’ length. Those shoes are great looking, comfortable, and of good manufacturing. The python is supple. The leather inside is very soft. The green is gorgeous.

I was thrilled when Cecilia told me that the winter 09/10 collection would be available on net-a-porter from August 09. Eventually, only a small part of it is sold there. Camilla Skovgaard unveiled the rest of the collection just a couple of weeks ago on the website. God, the shoes are gorgeous. Here are my favorite picks (almost the whole collection).

I really love those boots. I see them with a tight fitting bottom like a straight skirt or a bermuda. I like the huge sole. It should protect the sole from re and tear damages and wet ground. Plus it should make the shoes comfortable to walk in. The mixed suede and patent leather of the blue ones is gorgeous.

Love the ankle cuff of the bottom right one. I don’t know if it’s leather or satin, but the slightly silky pattern is wow. The thread makes me think to lingerie, as if you can free girls’ feet like you would free them from a corset. It’s erotic.

The left bottom and black ones look like models of summer collection Halle Berry or Vanessa Hudgens donned

This brown leather is gorgeous. Except for the sandals fitting all situations, I would wear them for diurnal strolling rather than nocturnal outing. I like the ears of the bottom left ones. Skovgaard goes back to her summer hit (below). I hesitated between those saddle flap booties and the green saddle ones. But I absolutely wanting green shoes, since that color wasn’t common last season.

I’m no fan of those golden shoes, but they look original. I prefer their patent black leather twins below. I like the contrasting golden heel.

Those pumps get something special. They cover the foot and then look comfortable for walking. Your feet should feel supported.

CS5

I prefer the golden ones, but I don’t really like none of them.

CS6

I like the flat thigh boots. The threads, 2 leathers pattern, thigh length. They should make a simple jersey dress look very sexy.

CS2

Those ones are funny. The colors, the leather pattern, the soles. But they look like Nicholas Kirkwood summer 09 collection.

    Hey cool info mate..

  2. The primary choice to make is the height of the heels. If you are planning on using your sandals for going for walks, standing or dancing for long periods of time a low to medium heel (four inch) might be best, still attractive and pretty and not so tricky to walk in as the more excessive heel heights and not so hard on the feet.

I would say yes the extra time will serve you well,I work with designers on a weekly sometimes daily baisis ,and I ccan tell you it is hard to get into, and really does’nt pay that well until you get into a large well known firm, diatetics on the other hand pays better and is much easier to find work in ,so it would be a great fall back.
