Alain Delon advertises Dior's Eau Sauvage perfume

Dior’s Eau Sauvage advertising is displayed everywhere in Paris. The model is younger Alain Delon, a french actor as know for his movie career as his breathtaking look. He got mostly casted for playing corrupted characters or lovers. With about 100 movies, he’s also a producer, a writer and a director. In France Delon is a bit like Eiffel Tower. He’s a national symbol. He’s a pride. He’s somewhat our French Robert Redford … or Paul Newman. He embodies the handsome guy who has grown older, wiser and smarter.

I’m too young to have known him younger when he’s got this look. I always saw him old. But the guy is known enough for me to recognise him on this pic, while I wasn’t even born when it got shot. It was in 1966, the year Dior launched Eau Sauvage. Delon was 31-year-old.

Using younger Alain Delon is clever. Do you know young guys who exudes such a charisma only a lifespan coats on? Or do you know old guys who look that way? For us, French people, this pic is all that in one.

The TV ad has been extracted from the iconic movie La piscine (understand the swimming pool) he played together with Romy Schneider. Eau sauvage means wild water. Utterly masculine if you see what I mean. L’éternel masculin means manly forever.

Alain Delon, original pic of Dior's Eau Sauvage ad

Here’s the original pic with the cancer sticker that’d been erased. Obviously, I cannot imagine this pic shot today since cancer sticker is not anymore considered cool. It’s rather felt like one is addicted and hasn’t got control of one’s self. The guy got it all with his killer eyes and sexy lips. All the same, his fingers are rather big for such an elegant face. No one is perfect. Hopefully for all of us.
