As I expected when I hit La Maison Europenne de la Photographie last week end, the line was ridiculously short. I wanted to attend Karl Lagerfeld’s Parcours de Travail exhibit, and Patrimony week end was just the good days to do it. This sofa is the design of Jean Paul Gauthier for Roche Bobois, a high end furniture and home decor store I’d die to buy my sofa in… Why that?

It’s merely the only store in France that makes a wide choice of sofa designs more than 43” deep available. For me, a sofa must be a place I throw myself in when back home, snuggle in on week end spent at home, laze in on Sun morning to refill my soul for the next week. A sofa is made for enjoying being home. It must feel like home. I’m not the kind of person into leather sofa I wouldn’t dare to sleep in. You know, you just sit down back straigth as if you got Michelle Obama invited and you want to look perfect.

This particular sofa’s shape is several years old. You can buy every element apart, mix them up to make a straight, single, double, triple corner sofa. Or just one armchair if you want. Jean Paul Gauthier redressed it up and I love what he did. I’m into solid colors for my home decor. I like it easy on the eyes. That my look slips around. But those patterns are lovely. Why, because the room is otherwise sleek : white veils and black glazed ground. The sofa dresses up the room. And at the end : it rocks. You shouldn’t have gotten surprised. I talked yet how I love this rising again trend to mix patterns.

I like that L.A.M.B. collection is so Gwen Stefanish. It was the shoes on pipelime.com that drawn my attention 2 years ago on the shoe collection. Afterwards, I knew it was Gwen Stefani’s label. I do not really follow her. I just stumble upon her design sometimes when I browse retail websites. Though, I like the collection she just introduced for Spring Summer 2011. The fact that the collection is so herself, that she wears it makes me think that she has fun doing it and that she believes in what she’s doing. It’s like she’s a whole. It gets me attracted even more.

What makes me write this post today is how rich in pattern her collection is. While lots of SS collection are solid colors and even dark tone, hers is full of pattern and sun with an obvious african inspiration in it. It’s like fresh air.

L’Avant Comptoir at Carrefour de l’Odéon in Paris is the new food to go corner Yves Camdeborde opened up beside his restaurant Le Relais Comptoir. Le Relais Comptoir food style is Southern West of France’s : duck magret, foie gras, typical pork and wild boar hams, gratins, lentils, sautéed vegetables. It’s so famed in Paris that you need to start to queue from 15 min before noon to get your seat at lunch. No way to book in advance. Just take the line. Count on €40 ($50) the lunch (starter + main dish and dessert). Unlike lots of trendy restaurant in Paris, it’s damned worth it. Dinner is a bit more expensive.

Hey guys, the short is back for good. And you know what? It makes me happy.

I bought my first short in aeons 2 years ago while I lived in California. The piece was my motivation to shed some pounds. Get once more those knock knees I was ashamed of in high school (how silly!). I bought several after this inaugural one and I’ve kept my weight in check. I’m more than ready to get some more this winter with crazy pantyhose.
