Rodolphe Menudier’s shoes

My very first pair of luxury shoes has been camel Rodolphe Menudier mules. It was seven years ago in July 02. I was in Paris for some days between my finals and coming back home. It was the middle of summer sales and Zara and my usual stores has been devastated. Hence I decided to make some luxury stores. I got into Rodolphe Menudier store (14, rue de Castiglione, Paris) at walking distance from Place Vendôme. While I looked like a student (i.e. poor), the shoe advisor was truely friendly.

Christian Louboutin is beyond shoes

I first heard about Christian Louboutin shoes 4 years ago by one my male acquaintances. He used to be a pharmacist (!) into fashion. We were talking about rising brands while sipping a (bad) coffee at the office. I was saying that fashion was streamlined in Paris, and that when I was searching for an everyday special outfit, I prefered going to London around Angel or Seven Sisters. Maybe, British found those neighborhood’s frocks streamlined, but for me it was fresh air. He introduced me to Louboutin. The first time I tried one pair on was in the US. Actually, I really feel that Louboutin ” is renowned in the US rather than in France. I never saw Louboutin shoes in Galeries Lafayette or Au Printemps in Paris while it’s widely distributed at Saks or Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and likes. I get any doubt that it should be his choice to not be in Paris grands magasins right now. But I don’t know why he wasn’t before being a recognizable brand. It’s been sometime that Louboutin is pampering his image and building a complete brand personality venturing wider around shoes. He pictures a complete sophisticated, luxurious lifestyle with his shoes being the central piece of happiness. His creations make me guess that he likes all sort of creation, from stories to filming to photography.

In 2007, he partnered with David Lynch to release incredible images in an exhibition called Fetish

Madeleine Vionnet, a fashion purist
“What I did is not fashion. It was designed to last forever” said the woman known as the architect of dressmakers. I attended Madeleine Vionnet, puriste de la mode, exhibit last week at The Musée des Arts Décoratifs (107 rue de Rivoli, Paris, Mo Palais Royal). Thrice I was in Paris in the last months, twice I couldn’t attend the exhibit. You imagine how I was thrilled to eventually do it last week. The exhibit lasts until end of January 2010 and showcases more than 130 (fairy) dresses that Vionnet fabricated. I was stunned to figure out how modern the dresses are. They date back to the beginning of the century and they look like contemporary dresses. If you pay a visit, do not hesitate to take the guided tour to understand the era’s context and get full explanation about Madeleine Vionnet’s talent.

Love Chanel n°5 new ad

I never saw the new Chanel n°5 new ad while I was living on March in the past 5 months. Audrey Tautou is the new face of the famous perfume. She follows Nicole Kidman 5-year-as-égérie. Audrey Tautou is a French actress famed since her breakthrough role as Amélie in Le fabuleux destion d’Amélie Poulain or Amélie (international title). Her appointment as Chanel n°5 spokesmodel comes with her role as Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel in Coco Avant Chanel or Coco before Chanel (international title).

Lingerie Football League

Lingerie Football Ligue

Have you known about Lingerie Football League? It’s an indoor women’s in lingerie football game. They play 7-on-7 tackle football games. They sport helmets, shoulder pads, elbow pads, knee pads, sports bras, and shorts. The team’s name are Dallas Desire, Philadelphia Passion, Tampa breeze, New York Majesty or Seattle Mist. Sexxxxxy, isn’t it? I am a lover of true athletic bodies. Guys or girls, it doesn’t matter. The ones that take care of themselves with an appropriate gym AND diet regimen. Some of those girls get a damned toned body with muscular legs and crazy abs. Note to myself: attending one game while in the US. Orange and blue uniform is clearly more flattering than green and blue one.

Newly opened Nespresso boutique at San Francisco

I can’t believe it. Nespresso is opening a store at Bloomingdales, San Francisco. Last year, I was living for 9 months at Palo Alto, 30 minutes driving from San Francisco. And it wasn’t there. I used to order my pods on the website. I felt so frustrated to not be able to enjoy the Nespresso experience at a Nespresso store.

Photoshop has just released an app for iPhone. For free. Wait wait wait. Don’t jump off of your chair (as I did). Photoshop.com Mobile for iPhone is barely an extension of photoshop.com, a website for storing, sharing, editing pics. It’s nothing like the famously expensively awesome software sporting the same name.

Karl Lagerfeld slams lazy fat mummies

I know I just wept about my dying Mac and how I would be unable to write over its resuscitation week. I am hijacking a 24” iMac, which is a dream compared to my 15” MBP.

Picture 1

It seems that fashion tsar Karl Lagerfeld is no kinder than Anna Wintour with fat people. It’s not a surprise, but it’s funny to point it out.
Check out this excerpt of Anna Wintour interview in Morley Safer’s 60 minutes CBS show.

Unable to write. My MacBook Pro is dying

Hi guys, I won’t be able to write for a while. My MacBook Pro, GApple
Jr II, is dying. You guessed it, GApple is a contraction of Gaelle and
Apple. It’s the second since a malignant thief broke into my house a couple of years ago and take away GApple I along with the rest of my life. I miss GApple I so far, but GApple Jr II has given me so much joy.
I just dropped it to an Apple Center.

Nobel Peace Prize 2009 to Barack Obama. Really?

(pic from Nobelprize.org)

Washington D.C. was still sleeping when the Nobel Prize committee released the news. Are you kidding? The Nobel Peace Prize 2009 awarded to Barack Obama for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between people”! Seriously? Is that a joke? And Michelle Obama has incredible sense of fashion as well? What does the committee think about Nicolas Sarkozy, Angela Merkel or Grodon Brown to name a few? Yes, they pamper bilateral relationships with countries they trade with. It’s part of the job.

Manno

I found out those paintings while I was trolling along Annecy, a lovely city in the French Alps. The artist is Jo Manno www.jmanno.com. His atelier sets in the Alps. I’ve fallen in love with the first painting. I really feel I can walk the corridor and join the light there. I like the different textures he created. The contour looks like rusted iron, while the middle is stone-alike. Any shoot wasn’t good enough to show how the blue script enlightens the whole canvas.

Well before its show, I heard much fuss about Ungaro Spring 2010 Collection. The buzz keeps going on after it. Well the reviews are far from utterly positive. Though,  Lindsay Lohan appointment as fashion advisor has drawn serious attention, talk and lines to Ungaro house during the fashion month.

Second (wait for the 1st/) I am not disappointed. I am Ready To Wear this collection.

Mac Café

IMG_5681

Today, I gave a try to Mac Café. I am a coffee lover. I was probably 6 when I enjoyed my first coffee at my grand parents’. It was only water of coffee, but it was sufficient to make me feel grown-up. Since, I went thru filtered brewed coffee to espresso and now Nespresso.

Sipping espresso is a sensory experience. Seeing the golden foam, smelling the grilled, well rounded flavor, tasting the acidity , bitterness and sweetness of different blends, touching the delicate foam with my lips, feeling the warm darken body flowing on my tongue and along my throat is my ultimate treat. Drinking coffee is a ritual.
